He lives in his hometown of La Spezia, but has permanently lived in Genoa. He has authored numerous essays on urban planning. He published the book "In this distant place. Notes from a suburb", which reflects on the condition of urban peripheries based on the example of their city. He says he is greatly influenced by his surroundings and his legacy to the theory of the Japanese philosopher Tsunesaburo Makiguchi expressed in the work "Geography of Human Life".
